If you haven’t heard of Hearthstone by now you’ve apparently been living under a rock with no phone, computer, or internet for that matter. But I’ll tell you what it is, it’s a competitive turn based strategy card dueler, and it’s constantly evolving. Blizzard has been setting the bar for every single category of game they release, whether that be Warcraft/StarCraft real time strategy or the MMORPG World of Warcraft. Hearthstone has been out for a while now, 5 years to be exact, and Rise of Shadows is the 11th expansion to the base game.
Rise of Shadows is the kick off to a year long adventure with the League of E.V.I.L. and honestly I can’t wait. The big changes that are coming are in terms of brand new cards, new effects, new mechanics, new keywords, and plenty of playthrough material that will keep you entertained and laughing.
There are basically four major changes; Lackeys, Schemes, Callbacks, and Twinspell.
Lackeys: 1/1 minions with powerful Battlecries that can change the landscape of the match.
Schemes: Cards that gain power the longer they stay in your hand.
Callbacks: The members of the League of E.V.I.L. all have their own unique twist that “calls back” to the expansion that introduced them.
Twinspell: A spell that you can cast twice, obvious right? After you cast it the first time it goes back into your hand without the keyword “twinspell”.
The expansion officially goes live on April 9th. It is introducing 135 brand new cards, and a new priest alternate hero, Madame Lazul. You can pre-purchase the Standard Bundle for 49.99 which gives you 50 Rise of Shadows card packs, a card back, and a random legendary card, or the Mega-Bundle for 79.99 for 80 Rise of Shadows card packs, the newest Priest Hero (Madame Lazul), a card back, and a random Golden Legendary card.
