The Detroit Lions, fill a defensive void by selecting Jeff Okudah with the No. 3 overall pick in the 2020 NFL Draft.
The Detroit Lions had many areas of need on the defensive side of the ball. Cornerback was one of said needs. After trading away Darius Slay to the Philadelphia Eagles that hole became even larger. The Lions were able to sign free agent Desmond Trufant — who spent all seven seasons of his career with the Atlanta Falcons — to a two-year $21 million contract to fill the void.
The Lions also released defensive tackle Damon Harrison, who had a poor 2019 outing. Whether through the draft or free agency the gap needs to be addressed immediately. Which area of necessity would the Lions look to address first? As general manager Bob Quinn and coach Matt Patricia continue to try and instill the Patriot way into the Lions organization, building a defense is imperative.

As a cornerstone for the Lions defense, Jeff Okduah will help to turn the Lions after finishing 3-12-1 with another playoff-less season. Pairing up with Trufant, the Lions finally have a pair of shutdown CB’s on the field.
