The Dolphins honored Dan Marino by retiring his number, as a result a lot of debate has taken place regarding it. Many people outside of Miami expressed how Marino should give the No. 13 to Tagovailoa. Marino has been by far the greatest QB the Dolphins have had for the last 20 years. The No. 13 in Miami is divine. “I’m not too worried about what number I have. I understand number 13 is retired and it should be. [Dan] Marino, he’s the goat. He’s like the mayor out there and I have much respect for him. Whatever number I’m given by that organization, if it’s 78 or 99, I’ll wear it. It doesn’t matter,” Tagovailoa said of the number.
No. 1 is unique for the QB position. Famous NFL QB’s that have worn the No. 1 include Warren Moon, Jeff George, Kyler Murray, and The 2015 MVP Cam Newton. These are big shoes to fill by the rookie, however the confidence and skill-set of Tagovailoa should help him to become a top QB in the league.
