USA- The NCAA Tournament kicked off Thursday, and right away the heartbreaks and upset made their presence. #10 Minnesota beating #7 Louisville started busting brackets right away. Minnesota accomplished this win without any support from their bench players, and with a upsurged 3-point shooting, from 3 per game to 11 in one game.
Ja Morant and #12 Murray State upset #5 Marquette with a 83-64 final score. Ja Morant joins the likes of Dwayne Wade, Shaquille O’Neal, Draymond Green in a very exclusive club becoming only the 9th player in NCAA Tournament to record a triple double, and the first one since Green in 2012.
Continuing with the upsets,#10 Florida defeated #7 Nevada with an impressive defensive game. Florida held the Wolf Pack to a 34.5 percent shooting. Although Nevada dominated in rebounds, and cut the leading to two, the effort was not enough to beat Florida.
After jumping to a 18-5 lead, #7 Cincinnati was not able to control #10 Iowa Garza’s scoring game, adjust to zone defense, and were unable to Iowa’s beyond the arc shooting.
#13 UC Irvine defeateing #4 Kansas State is the biggest upset thus far, seed wise. K-State only shot 37 percent and led at the half by 10, UC Irvine dominated the second half taking the game 70-64.
For #12 Oregon both defense and offense were key to defeat #5 Wisconsin 72-54, with Wisconsin becoming one of the last nine opponents Oregon held to 54 points or less.
#5 Mississippi State looked ready to move on to the second round, with 7 minutes left, and a 10-point lead. However, #12 Liberty had other plans in mind, thanks in part to Caleb Homesley and Loverll Cabbil Jr. performances.

Tokyo, Japan- After 19 seasons in baseball, Ichiro Suzuki has retire from the game. 45 year old Mariner’s outfielder announced on Thursday that he is saying good bye to baseball during a 5-4 win over Oakland at the Tokyo Dome. Ichiro was pulled out of the game in the 8th inning to a packed crowd that showed him love and respect as he took his final walk. He stated that he was ” honored to end my big league career where it started, with Seattle, and think it is fitting that my last game as a professional were played in my home country of Japan”. He is without a doubt a future resident of Cooperstown.
Madrid, Spain- Despite the harsh political crisis in Venezuela, their national team was able to bring a little bit of joy to their citizens when they took home a 3-1 victory over Messi and his Argentina squad. Although Messi showed signs of brilliancy, the effort was not enough, and La Albiceleste was rocked by Venezuela. This is the second time Venezuela is able to defeat their South American counterparts.
